Devin Castle
This tour will take you to the Devin Castle, one of Slovakia’s key historical icons, very close to Bratislava’s Old Town, but marvellously secluded from the city. The Devin Castle is depicted on Slovak money and postage stamps, and the word “Devin” is in some way a synonym for things eminently Slovak. You will enjoy a splendid view of the confluence of two significant rivers that form part of the country’s borders, the Danube and the Morava. Castle river-side location was strategic for travellers so the oldest traces of settlement there are dated back to the 5th century B.C. Its vivid medieval history touches several empires, undergoing multiple makeovers that can still be traced today, although it is maintained as a historically accurate ruin, a testimony to its rugged age. Learn from our guide about its history, enjoy georgeous views and see the museum situated in the ruins. At the same time you can taste a speciality of the region – current wine made by local producers.
